If you told me in a conversation that you had never heard of or seen a painting by Matisse, I personally, would feel sorry for you. As if you said you never really saw a flower or experienced a sunny day after a Sunday morning rain.
Anyway, to me Matisse totally got it. Lots of color, fabric for inspiration and his way to express this throughout his life. He continued as an artist with deteriorating eyesight, resorted to paper cutouts while bedridden, to create masterpieces.
A real stoic thing to do in my opinion. Stevie Wonder throw back, another BIG great in my book!!! Amazing what great artist will do and overcome simply due to the fact that they are artist and their passion is to produce ART!
My favorite color is Pink and imagine my surprise to see that my favorite artist Matisse had a painting called the Pink Studio.
