OK ! I am fascinated ! what exactly is Inktense and
how to use it to its full potential.
I am currently working on painting with oil for the first time and know that I need a least the month of October to get a handle on the ins and out of painting in oils. That being said and being an artist, I am always looking at inspiration and other ways to create.
I have been organizing my studio and found a set of Inktense pencils and blocks and had no idea how cool they are. I always loved to be surprised as I am putting together an art piece, it takes a life of its own. I call it magic but that is Art really.
I am still working on a paper piece that is about finished and ready to go into a frame. I have my table full of oil paint this and that and my eye catches Inktense. I do know why. I LOVE intense color and maybe should only work in opaque colors at this point,
but watercolor fascinates me as well.
Anyway, here we go. This is what I am leaning about the Inktense product.
Inktense is the intense color sister of watercolor and gouache. Like gouache-acrylic, once the product dries after water is applied, the pigment dries completely, it becomes fixed and permanent. It will not wash out or reactivate like watercolor paint. A great youtube video from an artist using the Inktense pencils. VISIT
It appears that Derwent is the only manufacture of the Inktense pencils and blocks but they are sold at most art supply stores and online, even Amazon. Visit the page on Amazon for Derwent Products – .VISIT
They even sell the Inktense as a paint pan set and, at time of post, there appears to be at least 7 pan set varieties. Check out the Jackson Art website to see a great selection of these paint pan sets VISIT
